Advanced Features

OPLNova provides advanced configuration options for each game, giving you fine-grained control over your OPL experience.

Game Compatibility Modes

Some games require specific compatibility modes to run correctly on OPL. You can easily toggle these settings within OPLNova.

  • Mode 1: Acc. Read
  • Mode 2: Alt. I/O
  • Mode 3: Unhook Syscalls
  • Mode 4: Skip PSS Sig
  • Mode 5: Emulate DVD-DL
  • Mode 6: Disable IGR

Compatibility Tip

If a game crashes or doesn't start, check online compatibility lists to see if specific modes are required.

Virtual Memory Cards (VMC)

Virtual Memory Cards allow you to save your games without the need for physical memory cards. OPLNova lets you specify up to two VMCs per game.

When configured, OPLNova will update the game's .cfg file in your library's CFG/ folder with the VMC names.

Per-Game Configurations

For every game you manage, OPLNova creates a matching configuration file (e.g., SERIAL.cfg) in the CFG/ folder.

These files contain:

  • Compatibility Settings: The selected modes (stored as a combined bitmask).
  • VMC Settings: The names of the Virtual Memory Cards.
  • Config Source: Standardized OPL configuration metadata.
